TICP Training Program in Psychoanalysis

The Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis is now accepting applications for its 4-year Training Program in Psychoanalysis. Next class begins September 2010; application deadline is May 1, 2010. Classes are held once per week from September until June, on Monday evenings, 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. at OISE, Toronto.

Practitioners of psychoanalytic therapies for children and adults have tended to mix with their own kind. This lack of communication may have impeded the opportunity for valuable learning from one another. This conference will promote such a conversation by offering an opportunity for the two communities to engage in a dialogue.
Two highly skilled practitioners of contemporary psychoanalysis will present their clinical work in an exquisitely open way, allowing us to observe it from the inside.

"A Peek Into the Playroom: An Introduction to Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents", presented by the TCPP

This is a 6-week Lecture Series presented by the Toronto Child Psychoanalytic Program, to be held 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on the evenings of March 4, 11, 25, April 1, 8, 15, 2010 at the Hincks Centre in Toronto. Cost is $150, and applications are due by January 2010.
Outline for TCPP Seminars, March-April 2010
Seminar leaders will present, discuss and provide clinical examples to inform the following:
1. What is a therapeutic relationship? Ethical and professional guidelines and personal challenges, identifying the client?
2. The use of play- making meaning, staying in the metaphor, interpretation, spontaneity, and non-verbal communication
3. How work with children differs from adult work; work with parents, confidentiality
4. the need for supervision and personal therapy
5. Assessment - how do you know if this is a SUITABLE treatment case
6. The nature of change, goals in treatment
